Teamwork, friendship and keeping up morale

On an exposed muddy site in the cold, dark depths of winter, it is important to keep morale up and we have a wonderful team which is more like a family than a group of work colleagues. A constant supply of cakes, chocolate and hot drinks is a requirement on-site. The archaeologist’s staple diet mainly consists of doughnuts and cups of tea, so we are usually quite happy if we have these on hand to give us sugary energy and warmth.

During the festive period last year, at the #InnovationParkMedway site in Rochester, we decided Secret Santa and Christmas music in the minibus to and from the site was the way forward. This helped immensely and lifted our spirits on colder, more miserable days.
