The East Wear Bay Archaeological Project (EWBAP) is a long term research project led by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in conjunction with Kent Archaeological Society, Folkestone Research and Archaeology Group and Dover Archaeological Group. EWBAP aims to collate the results of previous fieldwork carried out at East Wear Bay, to incorporate the results from ongoing fieldwork, including that undertaken as part of a Field School and to set the findings within their local, regional and international contexts. Ultimately, it is hoped to produce one or more publications fully detailing this important site.

The site is owned by Shepway District Council, who have kindly agreed to allow continued fieldwork ahead of the on-going erosion of the cliff top. The part of the site encompassing the main Roman villa buildings is a scheduled monument (SAM KE82; national monument number 465716). Where fieldwork encroaches into this area, scheduled monument consent will be sought from Historic England (formerly part of English Heritage).
